Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said that the situation has improved in the valley since the abrogation of Article 370
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, while speaking at News18’s programme ‘Diamond States Summit’, spoke on the historical abrogation of Article 370 in the state and said that there has indeed been a decline in separatist activity in J&K since 2019.
The chief minister said there has been a decline in separatist activity in J&K since 2019 and that the situation has improved. He added that it was earlier unthinkable that Hurriyat Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq would be provided with CRPF cover.

In his Delhi visit, Farooq submitted a memorandum to the joint parliamentary committee on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill and also held talks with a Kashmiri Pandit group.
As per the sources, CRPF men trained in close protection were assigned to him.
Abrogation Of Article 370
On August 5, 2019, the Union Government took the decision to repeal the provisions under Article 370 of the Constitution of India which gave the state of Jammu and Kashmir a special status.
In the Rajya Sabha, Home Minister Amit Shah announced that the government had scrapped the special status granted to Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370 of the Constitution.
The government issued a Presidential Ordinance which stripped Jammu and Kashmir of special status and repealed Article 35A.
The Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Bill was also passed by the Rajya Sabha which proposed the bifurcation of the state into two union territories which are Ladakh and Jammu-Kashmir.
