Heatwave Scorches Delhi: Temperature Crosses 40°C, Yellow Alert Issued
Heatwave Alert: Not only Delhi, but its neighbouring countries too recorded a rise in temperature. Maximum temperature in Rajasthan's Barmer crossed 45 degrees Celsius mark on April 7.

Delhi Heatwave Alert: The temperature continues to rise with Delhi and its neighbouring areas witnessing severe heatwave. On Monday, the maximum temperature in the national capital was recorded at 40.2 degrees Celsius. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has also issued a yellow alert for Delhi for the coming two days.
“Three stations — Safdarjung, Ridge and Ayanagar — met the heatwave criteria today, marking the first day of heatwave conditions this season. These conditions are likely to continue until April 9. From April 10 onwards, a drop in temperature is expected over Northwest India, including Delhi," said IMD in an official statement.

The temperature in Delhi normally touches the 40 degrees Celsius mark during the second half of April, but this year, the temperature has crossed the 40 degrees Celsius mark in the first week of April.
According to Mahesh Palawat from private forecaster Skymet Weather Services, people of Delhi may expect a little respite from scorching heat after April 10, with cloud cover and a drop in temperatures likely due to a western disturbance affecting northern India.
Meanwhile, the IMD said that humidity levels in the national capital on Monday was recorded between 25 per cent and 45 per cent throughout the day.
IMD has predicted a clear sky with heatwave conditions for Tuesday, April 8. The maximum temperature is likely to settle at 41 degrees Celsius, and the minimum temperature is likely to be recorded somewhere near to 22 degrees Celsius.
The weather department has predicted heatwave conditions in parts of north and central India. Delhi and Himachal Pradesh may face high temperatures on April 7 and 8, while Haryana, Gujarat, and West Madhya Pradesh may see a prolonged heat spell till April 10.
Punjab, Vidarbha, and Eastern Madhya Pradesh are also under heat wave alert between April 8 and 10. People are advised to avoid outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours.
